In The Press

Big things are brewing on the hill! We are incredibly proud to share that Wye Hill Brewing has been featured in The Beer Connoisseur following the exciting announcement of our new Head Brewer, Connor Tyo.

Connor joined the Wye Hill Hospitality family by way of Charlotte, NC, where he previously served as Head Brewer and Director of Production at Legion Brewing. As an alum of Appalachian State and a certified Brewmaster through VLB Berlin, Connor brings a stellar background, immense technical skill, and a fresh creative vision to our brewdeck in downtown Raleigh.

Our co-owner, Sara Abernethy, shared our excitement with the magazine:

“We’re ecstatic to have Connor at the helm of Wye Hill Brewing. Connor’s background and range as a brewer are incredible, and he’s been an immediate catalyst for the team. He’s been busy developing a lineup of fresh, imaginative beers that taste as good as they sound.”

A Fresh Lineup of Craft Beers

Under Connor’s direction, we have been hard at work rolling out a fresh lineup of highly drinkable, imaginative craft beers. Visitors to the patio may have already tasted some of his inaugural releases, including:

  • Reverent Hands: A smooth, timeless Irish Dry Stout brewed with Carolina Gold malt, roasted barley, and chocolate malt.

  • When There Are Nine: A juicy, thiolized Pale Wheat Ale with blood orange, brewed specially to honor Women’s History Month.

  • Crossed The Crest: A crisp, clean, and intentional Carolina Pilsner crafted with 100% Carolina Malt House grains and Michigan-grown Zuper Saazer hops.

“I’m thrilled to step into the Head Brewer role at Wye Hill Brewing, a place with a strong reputation and a community that truly cares about great beer,” says Connor. “I’m excited to bring what I’ve learned throughout my career to this team and to keep pushing a lineup of beers that are creative, balanced, and highly drinkable.”

We are honored to have our team’s growth recognized by a premier national publication like The Beer Connoisseur. It’s a testament to the hard work of our entire cellar crew and the amazing community that supports local craft beer.
